The Friary of St Francis | Alnmouth | Open Day May 2013

I have been visiting Alnmouth for many years but I have not had the pleasure of visiting the Friary of St Francis, which sits at the top of the village overlooking the sea. During the gorgeous May bank holiday weekend the Franciscan Brother's held an open day, and we took a wonderful tour of the old house and gardens. The library room on the first floor has the most beautiful view, straight out to sea where you can see, Coquet Island light house, Ashington on a good day and Warkworth Castle to the right.
"spiritual power, industrial power and political power" as our guide so observantly pointed out to us.
It was a memorable afternoon and it would be a wonderful place for a retreat.
